Ridgewood School presents The Sky’s the Limit in the Beech Gallery

Alexander Calder was an American sculptor known as the originator of the mobile, a type of kinetic sculpture made with delicately balanced or suspended components which move in response to motor power or air currents.

Inspired by Calder’s works, students at Ridgewood School have been working with their art teacher, Mrs. Molly Loftis, and the Springfield Center for the Arts at Wittenberg to organize their very own public art exhibit.

Often these artists weren’t given the attention or recognition that their non-teaching peers enjoyed. Find out what is special about an artist who is also a teacher.

Jason Morgan is recognized throughout the Midwest and beyond as an accomplished still-life painter, portrait artist and muralist. His work is characterized as hyper-realism, drawing on influences of such Master painters as Rembrandt and Norman Rockwell. Morgan’s art captures unique moments in time – from thoughtful portraits to bright and playful objects set against the muted backdrops of our everyday lives.

Lynda Pauley gained acclaim as an equine artist, painting championship horses throughout the U.S., Canada and France. In recent years her subjects have grown to include prairies, pioneers and people native to the region. Her masterful control of oil paint and pastel instills her subjects with a sense of living, breathing reality.

Andrew Hendrixson: Not Yet Fallen (Chakeres Gallery)
