Jason Morgan is recognized throughout the Midwest and beyond as an accomplished still-life painter, portrait artist and muralist. His work is characterized as hyper-realism, drawing on influences of such Master painters as Rembrandt and Norman Rockwell. Morgan’s art captures unique moments in time – from thoughtful portraits to bright and playful objects set against the muted backdrops of our everyday lives.

Lynda Pauley – Following the Trail (Halley Gallery)

Lynda Pauley gained acclaim as an equine artist, painting championship horses throughout the U.S., Canada and France. In recent years her subjects have grown to include prairies, pioneers and people native to the region. Her masterful control of oil paint and pastel instills her subjects with a sense of living, breathing reality.

Andrew Hendrixson: Not Yet Fallen (Chakeres Gallery)

Andrew Hendrixson of Mount Vernon, Ohio, will be the fourth artist to show in the Springfield Museum of Art program series, You + 4 Artists, funded by Power2Give through Culture Works in Dayton. Hendrixson’s exhibit, Not Yet Fallen, will be on display at the Museum from March 5 through August 31, 2015.

Painting Ohio Prairies: A Year in the Life – 2014 Ohio Plein Air Society Exhibition

Over the past two years, the Ohio Plein Air Society’s members have been painting prairies throughout the state. Plein Air painters take their name from the French words “en plein air,” meaning in fresh air, or outside. In addition to works created solely outside in all seasons, there will be paintings completed inside based on studies and work done outside. This year’s biennial exhibition is juried by Fred Fochtman, a fine art conservator and painter based in Columbus.

Wittenberg Studio Art Seniors Winter Show (Halley Gallery)

The exhibit in the Halley Gallery is an annual display that the senior art students create during their final year at Wittenberg. The studio art majors collectively display samples of their thesis projects as a sneak preview of their individual results.

The senior projects are self-selected and contain their best efforts in that media. Nineteen seniors are exhibiting in the show this year and they represent a broad range of media and techniques within the Art Department at Wittenberg. The entire project from each senior will be displayed in the gallery and exhibit spaces of Koch Hall on the Wittenberg campus in April, 2015.

Recent Works: The Art of Larry Shineman

Drawing upon his childhood in Nebraska, his experiences in New Mexico, his nearly 50 years in Ohio, and his mentors and teachers. Professor emeritus at The Ohio State University, Larry Shineman’s paintings and drawings are both mysterious and calming, drawing you into their composition.
