Gretchen Cochran: Bounty or Burden
Oct 1, 2009-Mar 7, 2010 I would like this work to suggest a set of tales told by a traveler who has brought back impressions of foreign parts.
These tales take place in marketplaces in West Africa. Each figure recalls a particular woman and a specific place. Some gather. They carry their goods proudly. Others haul cargo for hire.
Because I realize that I am an outsider, I look intently through my lenses, hoping to catch a glimpse in.
